Finding A Daycare That Is Perfect For Your Family

As a new mom it was really hard to find a daycare that didn’t have a wait-list a mile long. I know that isn’t the same in all areas but where we are we had to wait a full year for an open spot at our daycare of choice. Picking who is going to be a surrogate parent for your child during the day is stressful. Here are the tips that I wish we had before we picked our first daycare:

How to Get Your Chores Done Fast

I hate to admit that I was a terrible partner but I absolutely was. It’s embarrassing to say that for the first several years we were together my husband did 90% of the housework and cooking. I had a lot of baggage that made me believe that if I cooked/cleaned that I was subservient to my boyfriend/husband. I just couldn’t get it through my thick and selfish head that I needed to do my part. I didn’t want to be like my biological mother and I was so stubborn that I didn’t see the difference.

One day it finally sank in and I realized that chores weren’t a way to put someone in their place. It really was as my husband had been saying all along; they were just “things that had to get done.” Once I got over my baggage and selfishness, we started doing all of our chores together. I’m very blessed that he was patient with my nonsense. This is when a completely different issue popped up. He had his way of doing things and what all needed to be done but I didn’t.

Sermon Recap – Admiration

I can’t imagine what Mary was thinking when an angel descended upon her and said she was going to be a pregnant virgin giving birth to the son of God. I try to put myself in her place, a young girl who is engaged, ready to begin her new life with her husband and then instead she’s told she is going to have the child of God. There was no “oh but what will my husband and everyone else think?” She just accepted it and said that whatever the Lord wanted she would do. She had so much love and veneration for God that in such a scary situation she was humbled. Instead of asking a million questions (like I would have) she referred to herself as a servant of the Lord. This is a young lady who admires God above all else.

Admiration was our sermon’s focus this morning and it came at the perfect time of the year. During Christmas, you would expect the focus to be on Jesus’ birth so I was surprised when instead we discussed The Magnificat. The Magnificat or Mary’s Song of Praise is located in The Gospel According to Luke 1: 46-55.

My 4 Must Have Items For Traveling When You’re Sick

I just had to do something I swore I would never do… use a cloth napkin as a tissue. I know, I’m gross but I didn’t have a choice. Let me explain how this came to happen…

P is climbing on me coughing in my face but I love her cute cheeks and so I let her. She Flying to Utahchews on her hands and then rubs them on my face trying to stick them in my mouth. It’s when she is being the cutest that I slip up and let her stick her sick germs in my mouth or near my face. This was on Monday, a day I had taken off to relax and get ready for upcoming travel starting on Tuesday. Monday my nose starts running and I’m not feeling so hot but eh I shrug it off thinking it’s allergies. Then when I’m sitting in the airport at the butt crack of dawn I realize I have her cold. I’m hoping that it’s a 24 hour thing and that it goes away before my first session, I wasn’t that lucky.

How to Have the Absolute Essentials in Your Baby Bag

It’s 70+ degrees outside, we had just completed a hike (our first ever with P) she started crying about halfway through the trail because she was hungry. She was still so little then and didn’t have much of a feeding schedule. Luckily, we had carried her diaper bag with us while we hiked through the forest. One parent had P on their back and the other had the diaper bag. Dad had been carrying her for a majority of the walk so I carried her when she started crying. He made a bottle when we finally got to the end and I carried her in one arm and fed her with the other. By the time we got to the truck my arms felt like jello and I had no idea how I was able to carry her and feed her after walking miles in the heat carrying a bag full of stuff.
